Most of us would probably like to see our faces on TV, rogues and vagabonds aside. Even better if you're featured in a music video. So it's not really surprising that there are always plenty of takers when a band needs extras for a video shoot. Perhaps a little less surprising though, when the band offers to fly the said extras half way round the world for their moment of fame. [PRWeb Nov 28, 2006]

Newcastle, UK (Billboard Publicity Wire) November 28, 2006 -- Up 'n' coming UK band The Mosaics decided to utilize a larger casting pool than just their hometown area when launching a search for a guy and a girl to play the lead roles in their next music video.

"We have a storyboard for a future video of our track 'Runner,' and it called for a young couple to star in it," explains Front-man Dan McClew.

" 'Who could we ask?' we thought… friends, family??? Perhaps a fan of the band? Perhaps one of our MySpace friends?"

Thing is, the band's MySpace fans span the globe. So, if they ran a competition… the winner could be from anywhere … literally.

They thought it over and decided: "What the hell, let's open the competition to anyone and everyone!" They're now preparing for a winner who could potentially be travelling from one of the four corners of the planet, and the expense that will involve. "Sure it'll hurt the wallet," Dan says, "but it'll be worth it."

So, between now and Dec. 31, 2006, anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 that either is or becomes one of The Mosaics' MySpace friends and sends them a private message with their email address, full name and where they are in the world, will be entered into the competition draw.

The competition is open to anyone … anywhere!*

The winner will receive free return travel to the UK and one week's accommodation for the winner and a partner (of the opposite sex, please … to play the GUY and GIRL in the video.)

And, of course… they get their starring roles in the video!

Within a week of announcing the competition on their MySpace page, The Mosaics had more than 1,000 entrants. As of Nov. 15, they've received entries from as far away as Hawaii, India, Japan, Russia and New Zealand, to name a few. Of course, MySpace being MySpace, the competition has attracted a few tongue-in-cheek entrants too, including a Mr. Gay UK finalist and strangely... an unusual number of gentlemen with a penchant for wearing ladies' clothes!

However, the band is somewhat less concerned about the high number of aspiring models that have put their names forward.

The draw for the prize will take place at a live show, which will also be broadcast live on the World Wide Web, as it happens.

The winner will then be contacted to arrange travel dates, which will be during March/April 2007. (Should the winner be a student, the band will work to arrange the video shoot to coincide with Spring Break.)

So, wherever you are in the world, drop by The Mosaics MySpace Page and register for the competition.

The page has more info about the band and also features their music, including the track for the video, 'Runner.'

With a sound that's built on heartfelt lyrics with aching melodies that stand up against the very best pop tunes of today and an instantly memorable vocal, the band has attracted favourable comparisons with the likes of Keane, Coldplay, U2, Snow Patrol and Jeff Buckley.

The band obviously hopes to win a few new fans through the video promotion, but when asked about the possibility of people entering the competition just for the chance of the free...
