Fort Lauderdale, Florida (PRWEB) January 24, 2008 -- The Green Bay Packers have invited personal trainer and motivational speaker, Lt. Col. Bob Weinstein, the Health Colonel, to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI, on Feb. 16, 2008, where he and the Packers plan to inspire and energize 200 middle school PE-teachers and principals on how they can keep the nation's youth fit and healthy.

"We have a youth health crisis in the US," says Weinstein, a personal trainer specializing in military boot camp-style exercise programs. "We are killing our children by instilling a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits."

Recently featured on the History Channel, Weinstein is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel with 30 years of combined active duty and reserve service, self-employed with his own business The Health Colonel Corporation, based in Fort Lauderdale.

Two hundred middle school PE-teachers and principals have been invited to the all-day event at Lambeau Field to inspire and encourage the nation's teachers to do more fitness with youth. Weinstein conducts Beach Boot Camp on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida and is a motivational speaker and personal trainer. He has been widely featured in press and on television, including, in the past, on the History Channel, Fox Sports Net, NBC6 South Florida, Eurosport, Univision, PAX Television, The Washington Post, The Miami Herald, The Las Vegas Tribune and Telemundo.

Asked what he intends to accomplish in Green Bay with the Green Bay Packers, Weinstein responds, "I will challenge every teacher and principal to leave Lambeau Field with a sense of urgency to instill in our youth both in school and at home to have fun, eat right and lead an activities and values-based life.

"We are all role models in everything we say and do or do not do. We are walking around with the most affordable and portable exercise equipment in the world, our bodies. Setting the example of the importance of exercise and healthy eating in our lives and our programs and curriculums is essential."

The fitness education event is part of an ongoing series of community support programs and activities put on by the Green Bay Packers.

He adds that his message is important because:
* About 15 percent of children and adolescents ages 6 to 19 years are seriously overweight.
* The percentage of children and adolescents who are defined as overweight has nearly tripled since the early 1970s.
* More than 10 percent of preschool children between ages two and five are overweight.
* Another 15 percent of children and teens ages 6-19 are considered at risk of becoming overweight.
* Researchers have found that lowered self-esteem was associated with being overweight in girls as young as five.
* One in five children in the U.S. is overweight.
* Children ages 10 to 13 who are obese are expected to have a 70 percent likelihood of suffering from obesity as adults.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWeb) February 20, 2007 -- Lt. Col. Bob Weinstein, aka the Health Colonel, who is a fitness beach boot camp instructor and motivational speaker, will be featured on the new Eurosport television show BUZZ in March 2007. The show will air on a Saturday at 7:00 PM with some great footage of his beach boot camp workouts on Fort Lauderdale Beach and interviews with him about how to get strong without a gym and some inspiring words about how to motivate our youth. He is retired from the US Army Reserve with thirty years of service.

Colonel Weinstein was interviewed by JP Mothes, the host of BUZZ about how to motivate and encourage our youth to lead successful and happy lives as well as his tips on weight loss and how to keep those excess pounds off. JP Moss was on Fort Lauderdale Beach in South Florida with his film crew on February 3, 2007 to film Colonel Weinstein's Beach Boot Camp from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.

Colonel Weinstein: "One of my most important tips about staying fit and keeping that excess weight off is to eliminate all excuses. Excuses are disempowering and cause us to become a victim of our circumstances. They also blind us to the real opportunities that life presents us to be healthy and happy."

"We need to have more focus on helping those around us. As I clearly state at my beach boot camp group classes, no one should wake up and have a 'me day.' A 'me day' simply means that I view the world and my interactions with others primarily focused on me and not on others. A 'me day' is a recipe for unhappiness."

"I work as a volunteer fitness instructor with at risk youth, many of them homeless or runaways. Hosted by JP Mothes, globe trotting French journalist, the show is introducing guests with curiosity and simplicity.

He is retired from the US Army Reserve with thirty years of service.

Colonel Weinstein was interviewed by Allison Williams of Fox Sports Net Florida about New Year's resolutions and what it takes to stick with a health and fitness program as well as successfully complete a weight loss program and keep the excess pounds off.

Colonel Weinstein: "Short-term goals are great, but they are not the ultimate solution. We need to really understand and embrace our long-term goals. That is what gets us over, around and through all the obstacles of life."

"On a scale of 1 to 10 our health is a 10. If we are not living a lifestyle that reflects the value 10, we have merely understood the importance of health but not embraced it. We must both understand and embrace the importance of health to truly design and lead a healthy lifestyle."

"What is unique about my exercise programs is that just about every exercise used can be safely modified. That enables all fitness levels to participate, be motivated and make progress."

"How do you stick with New Year's resolutions? Be a member of the 10 percent club. Only about 10 percent really stick with any plans or goals implemented. 90 percent give up."

Bob Weinstein, a.k.a. the Health Colonel, who is a motivational speaker and beach boot camp instructor, launches his new workout video designed for all ages and all fitness levels titled "Upper Body Blast" featuring some great beach workout scenes on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida and excellent tips on how to get strong without a gym. He is retired from the US Army Reserve with thirty years of service and has been featured on the History Channel.

"The unique thing about my workouts is that you are allowed to safely modify any of my twelve upper body exercises. The only piece of equipment you will need is an inexpensive resistance band for some of the exercises."

"In just ten minutes you will learn how to get that six pack, lean arms, toned triceps, and strong back and chest."

"You are walking around with the most portable and affordable exercise equipment in the world, your body."

Col. Weinstein's workouts maximize the use of the human body as exercise equipment in such a way that all fitness levels and all ages can perform them, even if that means simply modifying the particular exercise if you are not ready for the complete form.

So just what are the benefits of Colonel Weinstein's video workout program 'Upper Body Blast'? "Here are the benefits to the beginner's solution to complete upper body strength:

•	The exercises are easy.
•	They are fun!
•	All fitness levels can do them.
•	No gym is necessary.
•	Can be performed with a friend.
•	Great for indoors or outdoors.
•	The Upper Body exercises are simple.
•	They can be safely modified if you get too fatigued."

"I follow that same principle a baby uses to learn to walk. There are many stages before a baby finally stands and walks. That is how we should approach exercise."

Asked why he is producing this video series, Lt. Col. Weinstein responds, "There are enemy soldiers on American soil. The names of these soldiers are Heart Disease, Cancer and Stroke. They are killing over 3,000 Americans a day."

He continues, "My mission, and it should be yours too, is to kill these enemy soldiers in the forms of diseases and others like them."

Finally, asked what he wants Americans to do:
"As with any good soldier, I expect you to follow orders and save lives. The first life you will be saving is your own. The second one, and many others, will be those who see you make your healthy lifestyle changes and become inspired to do the same."

His video 'Upper Body Blast' can be ordered at his website www.ShopColonelBob.com.

Asked about SmithBarney inviting him to share about health and fitness with their clients, Colonel Weinstein replied, "I was very impressed. Inviting me to talk to their clients about improving their health and wellbeing speaks volumes. Colonel Bob Weinstein, age 55, a.k.a. the Health Colonel and know by his clients as Colonel Bob, was interviewed by the award winning talk show host and features editor and writer, Sandy Zimmerman for an article in the Las Vegas Tribune which appeared on October 25, 2006, in the Health and Fitness Section, titled, "What Can You Do to Improve Your Health?"

Weinstein is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel with 30 years of combined active duty and reserve service. He is based out of Fort Lauderdale and is self-employed with his own business The Health Colonel. He is a speaker, writer and fitness beach boot camp instructor.

Colonel Weinstein shared some of his valuable insights into healthy living at any age. Some of his tips on how to lead a healthy life:

"Do you want to predict the future about your health? Take a look at how you are living your life today. Your lifestyle today will have an impact on your health 5, 10 and 15 years from now."

"Focus on what you can do and eliminate all excuses."

"You're walking around with the most portable and affordable exercise equipment in the world -- your body!"

"Do you want to put the recreation back into your exercise routine? Take your workout outdoors and treat your environment like a playground."

"Develop a philosophy of movement. We live in a society that cultivates a philosophy of sedentary living."

"Eat predominantly unrefined foods with lots of whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables."

"You do not want to belong to the club, WWC or Wheelchairs, Walkers and Canes. Do something on a regular basis to make sure that you can keep using all your body parts as you age."

"Reduce those portion sizes and quantity of food and you'll reduce that pant or dress size.

"This is my calling." As he says, "There are enemy soldiers on American soil. The names of these soldiers are Heart Disease, Cancer and Stroke. They are killing over 3,000 Americans a day."

"Every physician who prescribes medication needs to offer their patients a realistic, strategic, long-term lifestyle plan to get them off of medication, where feasible."

Greg was over 40 pounds overweight and could hardly keep up with many of the military-style exercises. After over two years of gradual lifestyle changes, he has lost over 40 pounds and is in phenomenal shape as a 40 year old. That is weight loss at its best. [PRWeb Sep 21, 2006]

It's time to tell a lifestyle-based weight-loss story that is not based on quick fixes but on a change of thinking about life and living. Over two years ago Greg Gregory came to Lt. Col. Bob Weinstein for personal training on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Greg is self-employed and does a lot of business related travel and therefore also eats out frequently.

Colonel Weinstein is retired from the US Army Reserves with 30 years of service and is a speaker, writer and beach boot camp instructor on Fort Lauderdale Beach. He has been featured on, among others, the History Channel and Fox Sports Net and has a website site with the rather humorous web domain, www.NoMoreCryBabies.com.

Greg went from weighing 255 pounds in May of 2004 to a weight of 211 pounds as of September 2006. He is 6 ft. 4 in. tall and is 4o years old.

"My constant measurement of performance has been my water bottle belt which I wear for workouts. Just the other day, I had to adjust it inward again. I've lost some serious body fat in my midsection and the fat loss has not yet stopped.", Greg said.

"Greg's weight loss progress has nothing to do with eating and exercise. It has everything to do with changing his way of thinking and designing his lifestyle, taking charge and taking responsibility regardless of the external circumstances. No more excuses whatsoever." Colonel Weinstein explained.

"There are enemy soldiers on American soil. The names of these soldiers are Heart Disease, Cancer and Stroke. They are killing over 3,000 Americans a day." Col. Weinstein discussed this sobering statistic with Greg and assured him that he, and the rest of us, can fight those enemy soldiers. Greg and Col. Weinstein then declare war on these "enemy soldiers" and they move out to do battle with an unhealthy lifestyle.

So what did Greg actually do to lose over 40 pounds? Here's what he did:

- He reduced his portion sizes.
- He made gradual lifestyle changes.
- Planned and Implemented a Regular Exercise Regimen.
- Became His Own Drill Instructor to Stay on Track.
- Always kept in mind the long-term health benefits.
- He did not focus on appearance; he focused on health.

Greg now has a natural heightened awareness about what and how much he eats as well as always planning on incorporating as much natural movement into his lifestyle as possible. He now feels better and has more energy. Greg is has finally gotten his BMI very close to the normal range of 18-24.9. His BMI at present is 25.7. BMI measures the propensity for disease. That simply means that he does not have to work on getting in the lower range of BMI. Once he hits the normal range starting at 24.9, his propensity for disease is significantly lowered.

Body mass index (BMI) is measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.

Overweight = 25-29.9

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) July 21, 2006 -- Lt. Col. Bob Weinstein, aka the Health Colonel, who was featured on the History Channel, delivered a lively, entertaining and informative keynote to a packed audience of over 400 guests at the Annual Men’s Health Conference on June 13, 2006 at South Miami Hospital.

Baptist Health organized once again its Annual Men’s Health Conference. The theme this year was “Basic Training for Better Health”. Weinstein is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel with 30 years of combined active duty and reserve service. He is based out of Fort Lauderdale and is self-employed with his own business The Health Colonel. He is a speaker, writer and fitness beach boot camp instructor.

Colonel Weinstein’s delivered his keynote on “Eight Ways for Men of All Ages to Get and Stay Fit”. His approach was both fundamental and profound. Weinstein’s eight tips:
1.	Develop a philosophy of movement.
2.	Break the back of the status quo.
3.	Be your own drill instructor.
4.	Be an “Excusinator”. Eliminate all excuses.
5.	Eat close-to-nature.
6.	Go around, through or over all obstacles.
7.	If you don’t have the desire to do it, pretend!
8.	Fight victim mentality.

“This conference was an excellent opportunity for me to plant in the minds of those men in attendance, that, there is much that can be done to improve health by taking charge and becoming the decision maker in all life choices instead of allowing the circumstances or others decide for them,” Weinstein states.

He started out with a fun and entertaining demonstration of the portability and usage of the resistance band with several volunteers from the audience. After dismissing the volunteers, he motivated the audience to roar at the top of their voices “Feeling good, sir!” as a response to his question, “How’s everybody feeling?” after being instructed that this is the only correct response.

The volunteers returned to their seats and Colonel Weinstein then dramatically switched the tone to a much more serious note with his trademark quote, “There are enemy soldiers on American soil. The names of these soldiers are Heart Disease, Cancer and Stroke. They are killing over 3,000 Americans a day.”

Internist Alberto Mitrani, M.D. and Orthopedic surgeon Richard Levitt, M.D. followed Lt. Col. Weinstein with their health topics. Dr. Mitrani talked on the topic, “Power Points: Ways to Stay Healthy Throughout Your Life.” Dr. Levitt talked about “Range of Motion:
Prevention and Treatment of Knee Problems.”

At the conclusion of the keynote and presentations, Colonel Weinstein, Dr. Mitrani and Dr. Levitt formed a question and answer panel for the audience. Questions on health, eating and exercise dominated the topics.

Among the many questions, Colonel Weinstein was asked how much protein we need. He responded, “Protein does not just run around or four or two legs. We have a tendency to count our protein intake by almost exclusively looking at animal products while disregarding plant sources of protein that we take in on a daily basis. The rule of thumb is 80 grams of protein on a 2,000 calorie diet in the United States. The recommended amount varies from one country to the next. We need to make sure that our daily food intake is predominantly made of fiber-based, plant products. Why? Fiber based foods are what I call NDS or Nutrient Delivery Systems so fiber is not just to make sure that things keep moving through the digestive system.”

Reservations were taken by calling 786-596-7340. The event took place at South... To read the press release in full goto http://www.prweb.com/releases/keynote/health/prweb410345.htm
