(PRWEB) April 25, 2006 -- For years, funnymen Tim Kazurinsky, Tom Dreesen, Mancow Muller and Late Show with David Letterman regular, Bob Sarlatte, have been making people laugh. So, Hey U.G.L.Y., a nonprofit organization that develops self-esteem building tools for teens, wanted to make the funnymen laugh ... laugh for their good cause that is. They asked celebrities to donate their laughter for a fundraising CD of contagious laughter called "Laugh It Off" Vol. 2 which debuts May 1, 2006 – World Laughter Day.

These funny guys make us laugh and their talents have far-reaching effects. Hey U.G.L.Y.'s CD has far reaching effects too. Their first "Laugh It Off" CD has lighten the spirits of teens, business executives, people at senior and hospital rehabilitation centers, etc. all over the world. One woman wrote Hey U.G.L.Y. that her brother, who has cancer, listens to the CD three times a day and loves it. Another said the CD enabled her to laugh for the first time after having dealt with a sudden death.

Why did the charity choose laughter? "We know the healing powers of laughter and how it can improve health and relieve stress," said Betty Hoeffner the nonprofit's president and head laugh enthusiast. "Many teens are under tremendous stress and we wanted the CD to be a tool to help them. When we saw other charities securing celebrities to donate things like purses, shoes and even bras we thought celebrities donating their laughter would a perfect fit. The CD is a big fundraiser for us and with the help of these comedians we hope to raise awareness for our cause and the funds we need to continue developing self-esteem building programs for teens."

The $12.00 "Laugh It Off" Vol. 2 CD will debut at a fundraising event on World Laughter Day at Dick's Last Resort in Chicago. It will also be available online at www.HeyUGLY.org. Produced and directed by award-winning filmmaker Rick Erwin, the 60-minute CD also includes the laughter of: Jimmy Neutron voice talent, Debi Derryberry; Emmy-award winning actor/comedian Ben Hollis; JBTV host, Jerry Bryant; and commercial voice talent, Richard Schoen.

Hey U.G.L.Y. Inc., NFP is a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower teens with self-esteem building tools, to help them counter challenges such as eating disorders, bullying, violence, substance abuse and suicide. U.G.L.Y is an acronym that stands for: Unique Gifted Lovable You. The organization's website, www.heyugly.org, lists celebrity quotes about self-esteem and body image and features self-esteem building articles, contests and exercises. Hey U.G.L.Y. is the creator of the in-school curriculum called "eM-POWER" which is available to junior high and high schools across the country.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 18, 2006 -- “Red Bar Radio", a Chicago talk show podcast boasting listeners from Berlin to Boston has done something unprecedented in the world of podcasting. On April 1st, Red Bar Radio went national via the Genesis Communications Network, making it the first podcast ever to be picked up by a national radio syndicate without first being on terrestrial radio.

The appeal of the show comes from an edgy cast and content focusing on "slamming celebrities, polluting politics, and contesting current events." Whether interviewing entertainment figures like Doug Stanhope or debating the Patriot Act renewal, Red Bar Radio focuses on becoming an elevated version of the "shock-jock" format. In fact, former Howard Stern regular, Chaunce Hayden, praises it as “one of the only internet shows that sounds like it should be on New York terrestrial radio.”

Red Bar Radio was created by Mike David and Ron Galperin in 2003. With no previous radio experience the duo ran the show from Ron’s basement funding the daily two-minute audio clip show with funds garnered from side jobs as film editors and graphic designers. Today and $40,000 later, Red Bar Radio has gained a dedicated base of listeners internationally with loyal fans cooking up everything from animations to Red Bar Radio competition cars. The show's five crew members, all in their early to mid-twenties, also includes female Chicago DJ and former TV host Dani Deahl (who doubles as Red Bar Radio's producer), a local actor who goes undercover on the show as “Panama Black”, and actor Brad Lawrence who is currently at the prestigious Goodman theatre.

"Podcasting", a portmanteau combining the words "iPod" and "broadcasting", is used to describe the exploding genre of Internet audio distribution commonly listened to on iPods or home computers. In the past two years, close to 20,000 podcasts have cropped up, with an amazing 12,000 dedicated to talk radio alone.

Official syndication with the Genesis Communications Network starts April 1st with affiliates KCXL 1140 in Kansas City, MO, WDCX 1610 in Tampa, FL, and WBCR 1470 in Knoxville, TN, marking a new night and time for the show (Saturdays from 9pm-11pm central), as well as a new era for podcasting.
