Frisco, TX (PRWEB) August 25, 2006 -- Smokin’ a Phattie – a social networking Web site for those who’ve caught the barbeque bug, whether they occasionally dabble in this backyard art or are an avid enthusiast – went live on Monday. www.smokinaphattie.com

Social Media Investments (SMI), a social networking developer, launched Smokin’ A Phattie, the barbeque enthusiast’s community site. Edward Garcia, partner, SMI and founder of Proceed Technical Resources, Inc. as an avid barbeque enthusiast himself, wanted to create an online space for those that share the same passion for this everyday culinary pursuit.

Smokin’ A Phattie enables members to create a profile, customize their own Home Page, and author their own barbeque Blog. Members can also join groups that spark their interest in “The Pit”. The site offers its user a nice menu selection of Events, Classifieds, Recipes, and the Phattie Store. Members can post recipes, pictures, comments and trade BBQ tips with fellow enthusiasts. It’s easy to join and membership is free.

Outdoor cooking is an ancient tradition. Barbequing, smoking, and cooking around the campfire - an integral part of our common culture - is one of the important ways we gather together to celebrate, relax, and reconnect at the end of a long day. Mr. Garcia noted that 85% of all US households own at least one barbecue grill and over 60% of them are used all year round. According to statistics Americans are cooking over the coals a whopping 2.9 billion times a year. “It seemed only fitting that this community activity should have its own community website.”

Smokin’ A Phattie was designed and developed in partnership with Intellimar Solutions, a Social Media Marketing company. Their website is: www.intellimarsolutions.com.
