Loganville, GA (PRWeb) November 29, 2006 -- Many of today's harried parents dealing with the traditional issues that accompany the stages of a 'typical' childhood, as well as the more extreme and demanding behavior of children with such issues as ADD and ADHD, are often unprepared for the intensity that attends these disorders.

Well intentioned parents soon come to learn that the traditional methods of childrearing do not work well, if at all, with intense children. Sometimes, traditional methods actually make things worse. Frustrated parents of children with 'challenging behavior' desperately crave a more positive relationship with their out-of-control child, but they do not always know where to begin or what works.

Recognizing the roots of this ancient dilemma, Brenda Murphy, MA, Executive Director of The Georgia Centre, began to fulfill her vision: a vision that created an accessible and immediate resource for frustrated and anxious parents seeking solutions, not judgment. Interested parents only need pick up the phone and call without feeling embarrassed, ashamed, or fear being perceived as inept. What they do find is a warm, funny, brightly spirited grandmother on the other end of the phone happy to help them.

Brenda's approach is a unique hybrid solution that blends the best aspects of parent education and supportive coaching, with practical advice presented within a motivational format. This allows her to create with her clients, a supportive, nurturing, and structured strategy for controlling the environment. Brenda's style uniquely focuses on problem-management, human potential, encouragement and motivation, and it also focuses on utilizing underdeveloped opportunities and resources.

The mother of two adult children with vastly different temperaments, and the grandmother of four, Brenda blends cutting edge behavioral research technology with safe, sensible and practical ideas for accomplishing behavioral goals. She combines 'short and sweet wisdom' in her compassionate, warm way, and serves up the information with the graciousness of a favorite grandmother who makes the time to listen. Brenda, whose work has been publicly recognized, has been described by one of her clients as "Mary Poppins with a fresh, new twist."

The approach she uses has achieved national acclaim for its efficacy with children who have been diagnosed with ADHD, ADD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, RAD, Inflexible-Explosive disorder, OCD, FAS, and Asperger's Syndrome. It has been shown to turn 'challenging children' around to an amazing level of success, despite the propensities of the pre-existing condition.

Brenda explains, "The parents that call are physically and emotionally exhausted. They have read a mountain of books and articles. They are disappointed by methods that have not worked for them, but mostly, they are derailed most often by the sheer intensity of the daily grind of dealing with a head-strong, motor busy child." She adds, "Intense children carry tremendous gifts and have great untapped potential, yet these treasures are frequently concealed behind off-putting behavior. The secret of my work is teaching parents how to move out of a reactive pattern into a pattern of response. Then, the dynamics begin to shift. Over time, the child begins to self-manage his or her own intensity. I've worked with many families that never believed this would be possible, but now they know it is true."

As Georgia's only certified Nurtured Heart Approach Specialist, personally mentored and trained by the program's designer, Howard Glasser, she... To read the press release in full goto http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/11/prweb483466.htm
