Glenview, IL (PRWEB) June 9, 2006 -- Adventure travel has become a global phenomenon, with millions of travelers paying top dollar to seek out exotic destinations. Sometimes the most interesting travel stories come from your next-door neighbor, and Sheila Simkin is on a mission to show the world the benefits of spanning the globe in search of the perfect travel adventure.

Editor of TravelsWithSheila.com, Simkin is thrilled to share her experiences and anecdotes with the world via her Internet blog. From hiking in Slovenia to crossing the desert by camel in Mongolia and camping at the base of Mt. Everest to snowshoeing in the Swiss Alps, Sheila's knack for telling a good story comes across in her daily entries that provide readers with a true sense of what it is like to visit these remote and wonderful places.

"I am an addicted traveler," states Simkin. "Unlike people who complain on crowded planes, I'm never happier then getting on a jet and going somewhere...anywhere. For a short time, there are no phone calls, grocery shopping, work, and everyday problems. I am off to a new experience with it's own new set of problems. Problems you would never think you'd encounter. But, that's travel." Simkin goes on to say "TravelsWithSheila.com offers a new dimension to adventure travel, unlike that which you see in the travel books. I provide real-life travel tips for real people."

Simkin's story gets more interesting when you discover that she is a sixty-five year old grandmother of twelve. Her zeal for international travel is contagious and she evangelizes others to share her adventure travel passion through her daily writings. Thousands of visitors have enjoyed TravelsWithSheila.com and it has been featured on popular sites such as WorldVillage.com and FamilyFirst.com.

About Sheila Simkin
Sheila Simkin, a native Chicagoan, has been traveling the world since 1960. The travel bug first hit on her honeymoon in Miami. Fidel Castro had just taken over Cuba and lured by rock-bottom prices, Sheila sweet-talked her ex-husband into abandoning Miami for Cuba. (It took a lot of sweet-talking!) She has since visited over 130 countries, touring, hiking, trekking, snow shoeing, volunteering on archeological digs and compulsively shopping. Sheila can usually be found traveling, but, during brief unpacking stops in Chicago, she spends time with her grandchildren, and works as an office administrator to save for her next excursion. Whenever possible, Sheila attempts to lure one of her children or grandchildren to accompany her and her husband, Steve.
