DALLAS (PRWEB) July 13, 2006 -- Meeting someone special is exciting, but trying to arrange a fail-proof first date can be tricky. Luckily, the warm weather of summer is ideal for many popular date activities, according to the more than 15 million members of Match.com, which is credited with more marriages than any other dating and relationship site.

Match.com members’ preferences* revealed that, among the date activities listed as favorites, those receiving the most votes could all be enjoyed in the summer sun. To help inspire many creative and memorable outdoor dates this season, the love experts at Match.com have put together their Top Five Sizzling Summer Date ideas:

1. Big Screen, Big Sky. More than 3.4 million Match.com members list going to the movies as one of their favorite things to do, and summer weather offers the opportunity to take in a film outdoors. Check your local paper to see if there are any drive-in theaters or seasonal outdoor movie festivals that offer a big screen under the stars.

2. Take Out For Two. Restaurants have become popular date destinations because they offer a neutral location to have a conversation while freeing both people on the date of the responsibility of preparing a meal. During the summer months, you can step outside the confines of a booth! Consider a restaurant with outdoor seating or order take-out for a romantic outdoor picnic at one of your favorite local spots. You’ll find it a lot easier to hear one another without the roar of conversations inside the restaurant.

3. Get Into Tune. Music is a universal language that speaks to nearly 3 million Match.com members. Music not only improves romance, but it is the perfect way to express feelings through compilation CDs, songs that capture a moment or at outdoor summer concerts. A favorite shared song can spark a lasting relationship.

4. Latte Love. Meeting for the first time? Grab a coffee on ice and take a walk around an area park or arts district. A slow-sipping cup of joe will give you just enough time to decide if your match is dinner-worthy for date number two.

5. The Art of Romance. Many art galleries and theater groups offer free or low-cost exhibitions and shows like street fairs or “theater in the park.” If you and your date discover your inner-artist during the experience, you may consider a follow-up date at a local ceramic painting studio or pottery-making class.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) July 5, 2006 -– What seemed to be the biggest set-back in Jay Diamond’s life turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Following the devastation brought on by Hurricane Katrina, Diamond, a New Orleans resident, didn’t know what the future held in store for him. Left with nothing, he headed east to move in with family in New Jersey. It was there that his entire life would change.

“I was still single and miserable in my career,” Diamond said. “I knew that this move was a second chance, and I wasn’t going to miss it.”

Eager to meet new people, Jay decided to join Chemistry.com, the fastest-growing relationship site on the Web. After taking the Chemistry profile, Jay learned that he was a “Negotiator/Explorer,” and he was sent five matches – the first being, Stacie Stuart, a “Director/Negotiator” and a school teacher from Howard Beach, N.Y.

Following Chemistry.com’s guided 1-2-3 Meet™ approach, Jay and Stacie exchanged emails and soon they spoke on the phone.

“We spoke every night for hours on the phone and it was so amazing,” Stuart said. “We had an instant connection and so much to talk about. It was incredible.”

Both Jay and Stacie knew they were compatible, but Jay was anxious to find out if the chemistry they had on the phone would translate into real-life chemistry.

The two decided to meet in person, which confirmed what they had felt for each other over the phone. Their relationship quickly flourished, and soon they were off to the Bahamas for what appeared to be just a vacation. But Jay had a little more than a vacation in mind.

During a talent show at their resort, Jay got up on stage and asked Stacie to marry him. “I was stunned. It honestly felt like a fairytale. It took me a few seconds, but of course I said yes,” recalls Stuart.

But Jay wasn’t finished with the surprises. He let her know that he had planned an entire wedding for the next day – even making arrangements for hair and makeup. “I started calling everyone to tell them we were getting married. When they asked when, I said, ‘in six hours!’”

Jay and Stacie now live in Queens, N.Y., and have made a new family with their three children from previous relationships. They held a second ceremony on Saturday, June 17 in New York for their close friends and family.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 26, 2006 -- A recent Pew Internet & American Life Project study confirms that online dating expands the dating universe for unmarried people and is an effective way for them to maneuver the dating world. To help those who are new to online dating, Match.com introduces its free Starter Kit so that they can join the more than 200,000 people who find the person they are seeking on Match.com each year.

According to a recent Harris Interactive Survey on behalf of Match.com, 72 percent of single people2 have never used an online dating service. Match.com’s Starter Kit takes the mystery out of these services by using targeted, interactive audio and visual guides to help people decide if online dating is right for them:

- The Best You, The Best Way: This section provides honest advice for daters as they represent themselves and their personalities through their profile.

- Cracking the Soul Mate Search: Experts help take the mystery out of searching and reviewing potential matches while showing those new to online dating how to get the most from their matches.

- Connections That Count: This section instructs people how to e-mail potential dates in order to effectively forge connections and provides strategies for taking online relationships offline.

According to the Pew study, a majority of those actively seeking dates (55 percent) said it was difficult to meet people through the normal “dating scene” where they live. And according to the Harris Interactive survey, 39 percent of single people2 who are not satisfied with their current dating life say it’s because that there are not enough opportunities to meet other people.

“Match.com creates more possibilities for people to connect than any other method of meeting,” said Kristin Kelly, senior director of public relations for Match.com. “Match.com’s romantic connections result in more marriages per year than any other dating site.
