Article Released Charges Many Nursing Home Owners and Governmental Agencies with Enabling Nursing Home Abuse and “Eldercide”

The attached article, “Nursing Homes: The Perils of an Institutionalized Life”, relying almost entirely on past newspaper articles, books and news broadcasts, exposes the abuses and Eldercide of our senior citizens – our mothers, brothers and sisters – inside nursing homes; and the lack of government action. Elder abuses, the mistreatment of senior citizens and Eldercide in nursing homes are now shockingly common and rising. Despite past articles, lawsuits and government findings, the problem is getting worse, not better. The Dorotha A. White Foundation hopes this article is a start in preventing nursing home abuse from becoming America’s next Katrina. The Dorotha A. White Foundation issues this article on the eve and in honor of the 1st annual Elder Abuse Awareness Day, on June 15, 2006.

Schaumburg, IL (PRWEB) June 14, 2006 –-On the eve of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the Dorotha A. White Foundation released an article charging that many nursing homes and governmental agencies are unwitting collaborators in elder abuse, the mistreatment of senior citizens and Eldercide, the systematic institutionalization of the elderly and infirm in nursing homes that leads to their premature death. The foundation reports that these abuses are shockingly common and rising. Today’s victims are our parents, brothers and sisters, and us.
