When published last year, Trail of Feathers was named a Book Sense pick for 2005 and People Magazine named it one of the top five nonfiction reads of the year. Tagged "a model of its genre" by Bookmarks Magazine, Trail of Feathers chronicles the true crime story Rivard's search for justice in the murder of his Mexico City correspondent Philip True, who was killed in a Deliverance-like episode in western Mexico while hiking. Rivard, editor of the San Antonio Express-News , tackles his own long journey that leads him to a "trail of feathers" that seeped from True's sleeping bag, to discover what happened--and why.
