Cookie Diet Creator Dr. Sanford Siegal Weighs In on "CR" Calorie Restriction Diet Debate

Recent New York Times, New York Magazine and NBC Today Show reports tout benefits of very low calorie diets.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 9, 2006 -- Renowned physician, author and obesity expert Dr. Sanford Siegal, medical director of Miami, Florida-based Siegal Medical Weight Management, today added his voice to the chorus of other doctors and scientists who are touting the health benefits of extremely calorie restricted or "CR" diets.
Dr_Siegal_Eating_Cookie.jpg"I realized decades ago that a very low calorie diet is the most effective way to lose weight," said Dr. Siegal. "Unfortunately, most people can't tolerate the extreme hunger that they experience on such a diet. That's why, in 1975, I created the hunger-suppressing Dr. Siegal's® Cookie that we use in our Cookie Diet™. Our cookie effectively controls our patients' hunger so that they can stick to the 800 calorie-a-day diet that we prescribe."

Dr. Siegal and his Cookie Diet™ have been featured in reports in myriad media outlets including ABC's Good Morning America, Woman's World, Health and The New York Post. In one of his early books, Dr. Siegal advocated an extremely calorie-restricted diet and discussed the considerable success that he had controlling his patients' hunger on an 800 calorie diet.
